Mississippi Needs an Open and Transparent Government

The Jackson Clarion Ledger has an article today that continues to raise the question of just how compliant public officials are when it comes to following the state's open records law. Every government employee ultimately works for the people who pay taxes. This is not an issue between journalists and government, although that is where the battleground usually exists, instead this is a fundamental issue between every citizen and state government.  You can read the article here.

Is Google now an ex-officio branch of the U.S. Government?

I've always thought that private enterprise tends to be better than government at organization and execution when it comes to many tasks.

However, this article, which points out that a large chunk of government data now resides upon Google servers, has caused me to question what we give up when we allow a corporation to assume this job.

Should this be something that government outsources? Is this a security risk and is it a growing one at that?

It's time we had a resurgence in Journalism

I think it's time for a resurgence in Journalism that holds to the ideals of honesty, integrity, and a focus on what government is doing.
